| $25,000 Charles Taylor Prize for Literary Non-Fiction to be awarded - Big Hollywood Posted: TORONTO - One Canadian author will be $25,000 richer by the end of today. Five writers are in the running for the Charles Taylor Prize, which organizers will hand out at a luncheon in Toronto. Ross King is on the short list with "Defiant Spirits: The Modernist Revolution of the Group of Seven" and Stevie Cameron is a finalist for "On the Farm: Robert William Pickton and the Tragic Story of Vancouver's Missing Women." Other contenders include Charles Foran for "Mordecai: The Life & Times," George Sipos with "The Geography of Arrival: A Memoir" and Merrily Weisbord for "The Love Queen of Malabar: Memoir of a Friendship with Kamala Das." The runners up each get $2,000. Ian Brown claimed last year's prize for "The Boy in the Moon," about his disabled son.
